Housing, Sustainable Development ministers meet UN’s Deputy Secretary-General

Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, and the Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, met Amina J. Mohammed, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, on the sidelines of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2023, to present the country’s second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the progress made towards achieving the sustainable development goals and accelerating the realisation of the 2030 Agenda.

Al Romaihi outlined the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning’s focused efforts to provide citizens with housing services and shared details on the latest affordable financing schemes that offer immediate and sustainable housing services, in partnership with the private sector.

Meanwhile, Al Khulaif underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain’s unwavering commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and deepening the integration of the 2030 Agenda into the Government Plan. She highlighted the innovative efforts undertaken by the Kingdom to accelerate achieving the sustainable development goals, alongside the challenges and lessons learnt.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Al Rowaiei, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations, and a number of officials.
