HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister receives the 2021-2022 NAO Annual Report

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today received the Auditor-General of the National Audit Office (NAO), HE Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who presented His Royal Highness with the 19th NAO Annual Report 2021-2022 at Riffa Palace.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister underscored the importance of strengthening accountability and responsibility across government workstreams to achieve the Kingdom’s comprehensive development goals, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Royal Highness commended the commitment of the Kingdom’s ministries and agencies to performing their duties responsibly and efficiently, which ensures the optimal management of public funds.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad noted that the ongoing cooperation between the Government ministries, agencies, and the NAO is integral to strengthening regulatory frameworks and ensuring the optimal use of public resources for the benefit of Bahraini citizens.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister emphasised the importance of ensuring that Government administrative and financial procedures are carried out in line with best practices to safeguard public funds and resources. In this regard, His Royal Highness stressed the importance for government agencies that have administrative and financial observations of non-compliance to take the necessary measures to correct these observations and ensure they are not repeated in future reports.

For his part, HE Shaikh Ahmed expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness. His Excellency added that the NAO’s growth and development is due to His Majesty the King’s unwavering support and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s oversight.

HE Shaikh Ahmed extended his appreciation to the ministries and agencies for their cooperation with the NAO, which has allowed the Office to efficiently complete its tasks.

HE Shaikh Ahmed concluded by emphasising the NAO will continue to implement development plans and programmes to expand and enhance its auditing capabilities.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Charity Educational Charitable Trust, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and the Minister of Finance and National Economy, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, also attended the meeting.
