International Flights in Oman’s Airports Rise 137.6pc

Muscat, The total number of international and domestic flights at the airports of the Sultanate of Oman (Muscat, Salalah and Sohar) surged at the end of October 2022 by 137.6% to reach 51,017 flights compared to 21,466 flights during the corresponding period in 2021, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The total number of inbound passengers through Oman’s airports increased considerably by 153%. Inbound, outbound and transit passengers in the airports of Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm reached 7,807,908 by the end of October 2022. The number of outbound passengers also rose by 115% compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

Breaking down the figures, the number of international and domestic flights (outbound and inbound) went up by 116.6% to stand at 54,165 flights (carrying 6,744,565 passengers) at Muscat International Airport by the end of October 2022 compared to 25,592 flights (carrying 2,784,037 passengers) during the corresponding period in 2021.

Salalah Airport recorded an increase in the number of international and domestic flights by 74.9% to reach 7,206 flights (carrying 939,977 passengers) by the end of October 2022 compared to 4,121 flights (carrying 511,476 passengers).

The number of international and domestic flights at Sohar Airport surged by 413.2% to stand at 739 flights (carrying 68,778 passengers) by the end of October 2022 compared to 144 flights (carrying 14,831 passengers).

Duqm Airport recorded a rise by 5% in domestic flights (outbound and inbound) to reach 544 flights by the end of October 2022 compared to 518 flights during the corresponding period in 2021. The number of passengers also went up by 39.4% from 39,159 by the end of October 2021 to 54,588 passengers by the end of October 2022.

The Indian nationality topped the list in terms of the total number of passengers in outbound and inbound flights at Muscat International Airport to stand at 122,926 passengers by the end of October 2022, followed by Bangladeshi passengers (48,431). Meanwhile, the number of Pakistani passengers stood at 36,747.
