Iraq evacuates 14 nationals from Khartoum to Port Sudan

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry announced Sunday evacuation of 14 Iraqi citizens from Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, to some safe sites in Port Sudan, upon their request.

The ministry said in a statement that it is continuing working to evacuate all Iraqis from Sudan totaling 300, adding that there are hotline numbers to help the members of the Iraqi community.

The ministry intensified efforts with its embassies in Sudan, Cairo and Abu Dhabi to facilitate coordination and response with the sisterly countries to expedite the evacuation process, according to the statement.

The ministry announced Saturday that the staff of the embassy in Khartoum was evacuated from its building.

Khartoum and other parts across Sudan have been witnessing deadly clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces the Rapid Support Forces amid a stalemate of peace efforts to settle the crisis between the two warring parties.
