Iraq PM calls for reinforcing economic integration between Arab nations

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani, on Tuesday, called for reinforcing economic integration between Arab countries via a number of joint projects adopted by his country, namely relating to railways and ports, to ease the ebb and flow of trade between nations of the region.

League of Arab States mentioned that this came during a meeting between Al-Sudani and League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul Gheit, while on official visit to Egypt.

The statement further clarified that Aboul Gheit underlined the importance of economic integration for the stability and prosperity of Iraq and all Arab countries, and affirmed his belief that the economic file should take precedence to eliminate unemployment and provide job opportunities.

During the meeting, Aboul Gheit listened to Al-Sudani’s account of the developments within Iraq especially in light of the latest general budget approval, and the current political stability following a tumultuous period.

Aboul Gheit welcomed Baghdad’s latest steps in alleviating tensions in the area calling it Iraq’s natural role to support various Arab issues.
