Joint Statement on the visit of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman to the Kingdom of Bahrain

Manama, At the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, visited the Kingdom of Bahrain on 24-25 October 2022.

In a brotherly atmosphere that embodies the depth of the distinguished and longstanding relations between the two countries and peoples, official talks were held between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The two sides discussed the strong brotherly relations that tie the two countries together, and areas of bilateral cooperation and means to further develop and expand them in order to achieve their mutual goals and interests, and meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

The two sides stressed the importance of continuing to develop joint cooperation in all fields, particularly in the economic, trade and investment fields, whilst continuing to diversify their collaboration in various areas, and further broadening and developing cooperation between the private sector in both countries, exchanging trade delegations and increasing the volume of the trade balance for the benefit of the two brotherly countries and peoples.

In this context, the two sides commended the outstanding work of the Bahraini-Omani Joint Ministerial Committee in consolidating brotherly relations between the two countries, and its constructive role in developing bilateral cooperation in various fields of common interest, underlining the importance of enhancing and broadening their cooperation to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

The two sides expressed their pride in the two countries’ signing of a number of agreements, memoranda of understanding and executive programs in various fields, which would contribute to advancing joint cooperation towards the objectives of both countries and peoples and to enhance their longstanding relations.

In line with the vision of the wise leadership of both countries to maximize the volume of investments and expand bilateral trade between the two brotherly countries, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed an Agreement for the establishment of the Bahrain-Oman Investment Company, as a basis for investment and for investors to build upon in various fields in order to achieve greater partnerships and productive business between private sector institutions.

The two sides discussed the path of joint Gulf action and the efforts made by GCC countries to consolidate cooperation and joint Gulf integration. They stressed the need to work for GCC cohesion and affirm the unity of its countries and peoples in order to confront all current challenges. They also underlined the importance of continuing efforts to achieve the aspirations of member states and their people towards greater solidarity, integration and joint action to achieve Gulf economic unity.

The two sides looked forward to the outcomes of the thirty-first Arab summit to be held in Algeria in early November, which would promote joint Arab action, protect Arab national security, and achieve the aspirations of the Arab people for security, development and prosperity.

The two sides discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, stressing the importance of cooperation and coordination between the two countries in regional and international organizations and forums, in a way that serves their mutual interests and promotes efforts to consolidate regional security and stability, and maintain international peace and security.

The two sides expressed their keenness to promote efforts to consolidate the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the countries of the world, and to promote dialogue, understanding and cooperation to resolve disputes through peaceful means, in order to achieve security, peace and prosperity for the peoples of the world, in compliance with the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

They stressed the need to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that meets the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, by establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-state solution, relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The two sides also stressed the importance of continuing the efforts of the United Nations to achieve a lasting truce in the Republic of Yemen, and to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with approved international references, in a manner that ensures the security and stability of Yemen, and achieves the aspirations of its people for security, stability and development.

The two sides expressed their interest in joint action and coordination to maintain regional security and promote cooperation to protect freedom of navigation and international trade, combat terrorism and its financing, and combat extremist ideology.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman, expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, for the generous hospitality and warm reception, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity under His Majesty’s wise leadership. His Majesty the Sultan invited His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to visit the Sultanate of Oman, an invitation which was warmly welcomed by His Majesty the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
