Kuwaiti FM underlines importance of GCC 160th meeting in Qatar


Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya stressed Sunday on the importance of the 160th Ministerial Council meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the Qatari capital, Doha.

In a statement to KUNA, Minister Al-Yahya added that the ministerial meeting included two meetings on its sidelines, the first a joint ministerial meeting between the GCC countries and the Republic of Yemen, and the other between the GCC countries and the Republic of Turkiye.

Minister Al-Yahya stressed on the keenness of the State of Kuwait to enhance cooperation and coordination with the GCC countries in various fields to confront the current global challenges, especially the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Al-Yahya expressed deep concern about the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and the brutal war carried out by the Israeli occupation, which has claimed the lives of thousands of defenseless Palestinian civilians, including children, women and the elderly
, stressing on the need to stop the war in the Gaza Strip.

He also underlined the keenness to support the Republic of Yemen in various political, economic and humanitarian fields to achieve comprehensive peace and stability for the Yemeni people in accordance with the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.

Al-Yahya added that the State of Kuwait is keen to strengthen bilateral relations with Turkiye, especially in the economic and investment fields, for further economic and developmental growth, which reflects positively on both sides, indicating that the Gulf countries and Turkiye have distinguished relations in various sectors.

Lastly, the minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to Qatar for the good reception and organization of these ministerial meetings that would enhance cooperation and integration among GCC members.
