Landslides, Flood Toll of Death Increases in Philippines

Manila, The death toll from landslides and floods

in the eastern Philippines has reached 122, with rescue teams

reaching isolated areas and retrieving more bodies.

Heavy rains have prevented search, rescue and humanitarian

relief in recent days, but officials hope to reach the affected areas as

weather improves. As more as 30 people are still missing.

A landslide has buried at least 50 houses in the town of Sagnay

in Camarines Sur province. The landsides and floods in the

Philippines, caused by heavy rains due to an air depression for days

after Christmas, have displaced some 25,000 people.
