‘Letter of appreciation’ for Bangladesh Social Club in Oman

Muscat: The Bangladesh Social Club Oman has received a ‘letter undertaking successfully all its commitments enumerated in its annual calendar.

Established in 1995 with the approval of the Ministry of Social Development, the club, it may be mentioned, focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage, besides carrying on humanitarian activities, including social work and sports in  Oman.


The club’s activities during the COVID-19 pandemic has come in for special praise and appreciation when it organised blood donation programs in coordination with the Ministry of Health and held sporting activities, including football and T10 cricket tournament in Oman.

It also organised national days and events of both Oman and Bangladesh and supported substantially the distressed people of the community, besides  organising programmes and seminars for extending medical help to members of the community.
The recognition and appreciation of the Bangladesh Social Club from Oman’s Ministry of Social Development has come at a very crucial time.

The director of the Ministry of Social Development said it was only after a close and lengthy perusal of the activities of the club that it was awarded with the letter of appreciation.

The Club has successfully completed all the programmes it had taken upon itself, he said, adding that the ministry will extend all sorts of support and cooperation for the continued progress of the club.  

Following receipt of the letter, the club’s Chairman, Sirajul Haque, said it was not his success alone and that all executive committee members of the club and the entire Bangladeshi community in Oman worked has worked hard to earn this distinction for the club.

“We work together to benefit the community and enhance the country’s image,” he said.
The executive committee members of the club said the achievement has given us encouragement, motivation, inspiration and direction for the future.   

The club, it may be mentioned has recently expanded its area of operations by opening branches and wings, including the Salalah branch and Greater Noakhali wing. Proposal for opening some more branches and wings is under consideration, he said.
