Majlis A’Shura Receives Egyptian Media Delegation

Majlis A’Shura received today a media delegation from the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt to learn about the Shura experience in the Sultanate. The delegation was received by Eng. Mohammed bin Abu Bakr al-Ghassani, Deputy Chairman of Majlis A’Shura, in the presence of Sheikh Ali bin Nasser al-Mahrouqi, Secretary General of Majlis A’Shura.

The media delegation included Abeer Fathi Mohammed, Editor-in-Chief of al Jumhuriya newspaper, Adel Abdul Latif Sabri, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Middle East News Agency, Ahmed Magdy Arif, the journalist at al Akhbar newspapers and the presenter at Sada al Balad TV station.

The Deputy Chairman of Majlis A’Shura provided an overview of the role of Majlis A’Shura and its legislative and supervisory powers.

On the other hand, the visiting media delegation attended part of the eighth ordinary session. They followed the agenda of the session and the discussions and interventions of the members of Majlis A’Shura.

The delegation toured the building of the Council of Oman, including the Hall of the Council of Oman, the regular session hall of Majlis A’Shura. They listened to a detailed explanation of the modern technology included in the building, the functions of the General Secretariat of Majlis A’Shura and the tasks it undertakes to enhance legislative and supervisory work.
