Majlis A’Shura’s Media and Culture Committee Discusses New Media Controls

Muscat, The Media and Culture Committee of Majlis A’Shura hosted today a number of members of the Omani Journalists Association (OJA), representatives of e-newspapers, persons in charge of news networks and sites and a number of social networking activists.

The committee chaired by Ali bin Ahmed al-Mashani, Head of the Committee, discussed with the OJA concerned members the vision of the association and its view on the professional and ethical controls of the new media and its role in dealing with the challenges facing the practitioners of the new media and the protection of media institutions in the absence of organized controls.

The meeting also discussed the Media Charter of Honor and its role in dealing with the requirements of the new media.
