MIKATI CHAIRS MEETING OF DONORS CONTRIBUTING TO COMBAT CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN LEBANON, BROACHES DEVELOPMENTS WITH UN’S WRONECKA, MEETS SAUDI AMBASSADOR, CARETAKER MINISTERS OF CULTURE, INTERIOR AND INFORMATION

MIKATI CHAIRS MEETING OF DONORS CONTRIBUTING TO COMBAT CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN LEBANON, BROACHES DEVELOPMENTS WITH UN’S WRONECKA, MEETS SAUDI AMBASSADOR, CARETAKER MINISTERS OF CULTURE, INTERIOR AND INFORMATION

Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Friday chaired at the Grand Serail, a meeting of donors helping to combat the cholera epidemic in Lebanon.

Partaking in the meeting are Caretaker Ministers of Health Firas Al-Abiad, Interior Judge Bassam Mawlawi, Energy and Water Walid Fayyad, as well as the ambassadors of the United States, France, Britain, China, Korea, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the European Union, the Chargé d’Affaires of Kuwait, the Chargé d’Affaires of Norway, a representative of the Embassy of Japan, and representatives of the World Bank, United Nations bodies, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization.

Speaking on emerging, Caretaker Minister Al-Abiad said that today’s meeting focused on the issue of the cholera epidemic and its spread in Lebanon, the measures required to limit its spread, and the means by which donor and friendly countries can help Lebanon implement these measures.

On the other hand, Caretaker Premier Mikati met at the Grand Serail with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, over the most recent developments and the current political situation.

Moreover, Mikati received Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Waleed Bukhari, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Discussions also touched on the issue of the “Taif Agreement”, in light of the conference that the Saudi Embassy will hold tomorrow at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut, marking the thirty-third anniversary of the Taif agreement.

On the other hand, Mikati met with Caretaker Minister of Culture, Judge Mohammad Wissam Al-Mortada, accompanied by the head of the National Higher Conservatory of Music (National Conservatoire) Hiba Al Kawas.

Discussions reportedly touched on the means of activating cultural activity in all its dimensions in the country, including the musical dimension.

Mikati then met with Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, and they discussed the current security situation and the work of the Interior Ministry.

The PM also met with Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Al-Makary, with whom he discussed an array of political and media issues.
