MIKATI CHAIRS MEETINGS OVER LEBANESE UNIVERSITY, SOLID WASTE DOSSIERS, MEETS “STRONG REPUBLIC” BLOC MP OKEIS, FORMER MP HAJJAR, CHINESE AMBASSADOR

Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail to discuss the Lebanese University dossier, attended by Caretaker Minister of Education and Higher Education Judge Abbas Al-Halabi, and the President of the Lebanese University, Professor Bassam Badran.

On emerging, Caretaker Minister al-Halabi said that the meeting was devoted to tackling an array of matters related to the Lebanese University.

On the other hand, Caretaker Premier Mikati sent a memo to the Caretaker Minister of Finance, Youssef Al-Khalil, asking him to study the recommendations of the National Educational Union Gathering and submit suitable proposals in this regard.

On a different level, the Prime Minister met with Caretaker Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin and MPs Akram Chehayeb, Alain Aoun, Fadi Alameh, Ali Ammar and Mark Daou, as well as the president of the Southern Suburbs Municipalities Union, engineer Mohamed Dergham, and the President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Eng. Nabil El-Jisr

The meeting discussed the issue of solid waste in the districts of Baabda, Chouf and Aley.

Mikati also welcomed at the Grand Serail “Strong Republic” bloc MP George Okeis, who said on emerging that he discussed with the Premier an array of issues related to central Beqa and the city of Zahle, in particular.

The PM also received former MP Mohammad Hajjar, over issues related to the towns of Iqlim al-Kharroub.

Mikati also met with Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Qian Minjian, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.
