MOH Concludes Conference on Rehabilitation of Lower Limbs Musculoskeletal Disorders

Muscat, The Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the Medical Rehabilitation Section in the Directorate General of Specialized Medical Care (SMC), in collaboration with the “PhysioPod” platform, based in the United Kingdom (UK) and the Omani Physiotherapy Association (OPTA), today concluded the first-of-its-kind scientific conference on Rehabilitation of Lower Limbs Musculoskeletal Disorders.

Dr. Kadhim Jafar Suleiman, Director General of SMC emphasized the keenness of the Medical Rehabilitation Services section to implement training programs and utilize the available means in a safe manner in order to achieve the desired goals of these programs set to qualify and train health workers in various fields and thus providing high quality health services, and keeping pace with scientific developments.

Samia al-Raisi, Head of the Medical Rehabilitation Services at the General Directorate of Specialized Medical Care underscored the importance of benefiting from international experiences and expertise in physical therapy and rehabilitation. She reiterated the importance of cooperation with relevant authorities. She affirmed that the section seeks to support different forms of physical therapy, which scientific studies have proven successful, including manual therapy and the muscular efficiency program.

The conference saw the participation of around 2800 local and international experts and specialists, and 21 lecturers in the health fields.
