NCC Chief hails HM the King’s support to national press

National Communication Centre (NCC) Chief Executive Officer Yousif Mohammed Albinkhalil hailed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s message marking the World Press Freedom Day, annually observed on May 3.

“The keynote address reflects HM the King’s unwavering support the sector of the press, media and communication and firm belief in their role in building the nation, within a democratic atmosphere empowered by a developed constitutional and legal system that guarantees independent and responsible freedom of opinion and expression”, he said.

In a statement marking the 30th UN World Press Freedom Day, he stressed the NCC’s commitment to serve the nation, support development and unify government media narrative.

“The democratic environment in Bahrain, has reinforced rights, freedoms, and legal guarantees for practising journalism and media professions, and enabled journalists and media professionals to express their opinions safely and independently”, he said.

Albinkhalil commended the role of press and media outlets, as partners of development, hailing their contributions to safeguard national identity, enhancing awareness and sharing information.

He reiterated the NCC’s commitment to continued cooperation with the media and press institutions to reflect Bahrain’s landmark achievements.
