NCD Committee Meets

Muscat, The National Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Committee held today its second meeting of the 2019 at the Ministry of Health (MOH) under the chair of Dr. Ali bin Talib Al-Hinai, MOH Undersecretary for Planning Affairs, Chairman of the Committee.

The meeting touched upon the preparation of organizing the first non-communicable diseases forum, due to be held next December.

The meeting addressed the report of the estimated cost of NCD plan, as well as adopting the operational activities of the non-communicable diseases implementation plan.

In addition, the meeting also discussed the inclusion of plans to combat non-communicable diseases in the working places that affiliated to the Ministry of Manpower.

The meeting’s agenda also included addressing the concerned authorities to activate plans to combat non-communicable diseases among the staff and students of various Colleges and institutes, as well as submitting the proposal of a tobacco-free Nizwa souq to the competent authorities in order to legislate a general regulation for the markets in the regard.

Furthermore, the Committee also discussed the proposal of establishing a webpage on the social media concerned with the Committee’s activities and spreading awareness about NCD, as well as the electronic cigarette and its risk to the community members and environment.
