New Estonian Government Takes Office

Tallinn, The new Estonian government of incumbent Prime Minister Kaja Kallas was formally sworn into office in Tallinn today.

Kallas, who since January 2021 has been the first woman to lead the government in the EU and NATO country, now has a new coalition involving her economically liberal Reform Party, the Social Democrats and the conservative Isamaa. A previous coalition with the Centre Party collapsed in early June.

The three parties, who have five ministers each in Cabinet, hold a majority of 55 seats out of 101 in parliament.
