No Impacts on Residences, Inhabitants From Ja’alan Earthquake

Muscat, The earthquake monitoring centre at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) today reported a low magnitude earthquake, measuring 3.4 degrees on the Richter scale, in the Wilayat of Ja’alan Bani Bu Ali, Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah.

The tremor, which hit a depth of 10 kilometres in the sea, occurred at 11.23 am.

Dr. Issa al-Hussain, Director of the SQU Earthquake Monitoring Centre, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the earthquake epicenter is located 250 km from Muscat city, about 260 km from Duqm and 125 km from the Wilayat of Sur. He described today’s earthquake as “a minor shock that had no impact on residences or inhabitants there”.
