Nominations for 7th Prime Minister’s Press Award have concluded, Information Minister says

Nominations for the 7th edition of the Prime Minister’s Press Award have concluded, announced the Minister of Information Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Alnoaimi.

A total of 319 entries have been submitted in four categories of the prize – 138 opinion columns, 41 journalistic investigations, 107 press interviews and 33 press photos.

The minister noted the care accorded to the Bahraini press by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who opened broad horizons for responsible freedom of opinion and expression, which provided the press with the appropriate conditions to play its pivotal role in supporting the process of national development through responsible opinion.

He also highlighted the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the award, which motivates affiliates of the press community to participate in it, in light of the honor that the prize represents for creative journalists.

He stressed the level of the works which were submitted this year, which reflects the development achieved by the Bahraini press in terms of form, content and intellectual creativity within a framework that respects the ethics of the profession and stems from its noble mission to raise the awareness of society.

He indicated that a committee of experts and specialists has been set up to evaluate the works, and then announce the names of the winners in full transparency and in accordance with the criteria that govern the award.

He thanked the press community for its role in strengthening the pillars of the comprehensive development process taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and for its outstanding contributions in supporting everything that is in the interest of the country and citizens.

The minister also wished all those who are in the fray vying for the award every success.
