OCCI 4-Year Periodic Elections Kick Off in All Oman Governorates

Muscat, Private sector establishments today began casting ballots to select their prospective candidates in Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) elections for the forthcoming period of membership (2022-2026). As many as 122 candidates from different governorates of Oman contest seats dedicated to joint stock companies and foreign investment firms.

The voting, in which 14,977 registered establishments take part, is scheduled to continue till 6 pm today, after which the ballots are sorted out electronically and winners’ names announced.

Electoral centres are located as follows: Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat Governorate, Sultan Qaboos Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Dhofar Governorate, headquarters of OCCI branches in the wilayats of Khasab and Daba in Musandam Governorate and OCCI branches in the rest of the governorates.

OCCI board will have 21 members, of whom 5 represent Muscat Governorate, 10 as heads of boards in OCCI branches in other governorates, 5 as members from among boards of joint stock companies listed in Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), its members and CEOs, and 1 member from among foreign investors having residency status in Oman.
