OCCI, Shell Development Oman Sign MoU to Boost Local Added Value

Muscat, Oman Chamber of Commerce and

Industry (OCCI) and Shell Development Oman signed a memorandum

of understanding (MoU) to boost local added value of Shell integrated

gas projects. The MoU was signed to create more jobs, support

economic development efforts and local suppliers, in addition to

encouraging other institutions to take advantage of investment

opportunities in the local value of these projects.

The MoU was signed by Qais bin Mohammed al-Yousef, OCCI

Chairman and Chris Breeze, Country Chairman of Shell Development

Oman.

Ra’ed bin Mohammed al-Shehi, OCCI Board Member, Head of

OCCI Branch in the Governorate of Musandam, said that the

partnership with Shell, which has long experience in the oil and gas

field, would contribute significantly to transferring the expertise and

experience to SMEs operating in the field, in addition to boosting their

production capacity and developing their technologies, which will

enable them to compete in the future in mega projects and ensuring

more business opportunities.

He explained that the MoU would enable the use of data and

information platforms between the two parties to enhance Shell

integrated gas projects and to enhance local added value. It would

also allow entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities

available at Shell Development Oman in the upcoming period in the

integrated gas project in the concession area (6), as well as

opportunities in the concession area (42).

Chris Breeze, Country Chairman of Shell Development Oman,

said that the MoU was aimed at cooperation in providing jobs, allowing

local entrepreneurs to develop and sustain their businesses, and

contribute to the development and economic diversification of the

Sultanate. He expressed the company’s commitment to building

national capacities and capabilities and increasing the dependence on

the products of Omani companies in all our future projects to ensure

the enhancement of local added value.

The two parties will collaborate in promoting Shell integrated

gas projects in a variety of forums, including investor fairs, promotion

events, business leaders’ conferences, trade fairs and training courses

in support of Omani companies’ participation in these strategic projects

in the Sultanate.

The signing was attended by officials from OCCI and

representatives from Shell Development Oman.
