Oman Cybersecurity Conference Focuses on Infrastructure Sector

Muscat, The 3rd session of Oman Cybersecurity Conference 2023, organized by Al Roya newspaper today, reviewed plans to enhance readiness and means of responding to cyberattacks in the sector of national infrastructure institutions.

The conference studied ways of developing and fine-tuning national capabilities in the field of electronic security.

The conference discussed key elements on the governance of electronic security in the sector of infrastructure, as well as the governance of professions related to electronic security. It also included a discussion session titled “Cybersecurity and Future Objectives”.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council. Al Khalili underscored the significance of the conference which, he said, highlights vital issues in the backdrop of the rapid digital revolution.

The event gains impetus as it consolidates Oman’s readiness to promptly respond to cyberattacks and establish an appropriate infrastructure environment and rules in different sectors and fields, he added.

For his part, Dr. Ali Salim Al Balushi, Head of the Electronic Defence Centre, stressed the importance of cybersecurity, the need to keep pace with developments and move forward into implementing national strategies by engaging all authorities concerned in a manner that realizes the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

The participants reviewed the latest technology in the field of electronic security with a view to localizing these technologies to serve Oman’s economy and enhance its efficiency and competitiveness.
