Oman Downstream Expo, Conference Opens

Muscat, The third edition of Oman Downstream

Exhibition and Conference (ODEC), organized by Omanexpo and

World Refining Association (WRA), formally opened at the Oman

Convention and Exhibition Centre today. The event was inaugurated by

Hamad bin Khamis al-Amri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of

Manpower for Labour Affairs.

The ceremony was initiated by a keynote ministerial address by

Salim al-Aufi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, on

Capitalizing on Oman’s Wealth of Opportunities. This was followed by

a keynote presentation on Orpic’s Plans for Oman’s Downstream

Industry by Ahmed al-Jahdami, CEO of Downstream at Oman Oil

Company and Orpic Group.

An investment panel on International Insights into Investing in

Oman’s Downstream Industry followed presentations by Dr. Salim al-

Huthaili, CEO of Duqm Refinery and Alan Gelder, Vice President of

Refining, Chemicals and Oil Market at Wood Mackenzie.

Oman Downstream Exhibition and Conference is held under the

auspices of the Ministry of Oil and Gas and is spearheaded and co-

hosted by Duqm Refinery and the recently merged Oman Oil Company

and Orpic Group.

The exhibition will feature more than 100 companies that

include top names as Orpic, Oman Oil Company, Duqm Refinery, KBC,

Grace, BASF, Contract Resources, BD Energy Systems and

WorleyParsons, who will showcase the latest and the best of their

products, services and technology to over 2,000 qualified trade visitors.

The conference, which will focus on in-country value,

investment opportunities, digitalization, case studies, among others,

was led off by a full-day workshop featuring topics, such as The

Outlook for Refining and Petrochemicals in 2019-2025; The Key

Challenges to the Global Chemicals Industry; and Development and

Support for a Regional Polymer Processing Industry.

More than 30 esteemed expert speakers will be presenting to

an anticipated 200 high-level delegates.
