Oman Heads 155th Session of GCC Ministerial Council

The Sultanate of Oman chaired the 155th session of the GCC Ministerial Council held at the GCC Secretariat General headquarters in Riyadh today.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented in the meeting by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister. Present at the meeting were GCC foreign ministers and the GCC Secretary General.

In his speech, Sayyid Badr underlined the approach pursued by the GCC to support peace, security and stability in the region and the world in a bid to achieve comprehensive development and prosperity for all, as well as promoting the constructive cooperation and mutual benefits among different countries and peoples.

He also welcomed the tripartite joint statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China on resuming Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations. This agreement, sayyid Badr said, constitutes a significant step within the context of GCC common goals.

The ministerial meeting reviewed the course of implementing the decisions issued by the GCC Supreme Council, which aim at enhancing the GCC joint action.

The participating ministers have taken the decisions necessary to promote cooperation among the members states, develop economic, cultural, educational and security ties in a manner that contributes in consolidating and sustaining stability and comprehensive development in the region, as well as enhancing cooperation and solidarity among the member states.
