Oman Information Technology Society, Microsoft To Boost Skilling And Career Opportunities

Muscat, Oman Information Technology Society (OITS), in collaboration with Microsoft, launched the “MaharaTec” initiative to up-skillthe nation’s future leaders and talent, enhancing their capabilities in the field of communications and information technology

This addition to the industry will empower young professionals to acquire all the necessary knowledge and skills to improve the labour market in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

“The ICT field is witnessing rapid growth, and we are happy to support Oman’s 2040 vision, which aims to create diverse economic opportunities for the sector,” said Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chairman of Oman Society for Information Technology. “This partnership with Microsoft will enrich the experience of the Omani youth and train them in one of the most essential career paths of today, so that they can gain the in-demand expertise on ensuring their lead position in a knowledge-based economy of the Sultanate.”

The goal of MaharaTec seeks to enhance the confidence of the functional community in educational outcomes in the IT sector. The courses will ready the youth in proficiency as a software developer, data analyst, IT administrator, IT support & helpdesk, project manager, digital marketer, financial analyst, graphic designer, customer service and sales.

“MaharaTec is a valuable project that generates opportunities for young talent in the country to hone their skills and gain career-building experiences, which contributes to strengthening the future of the IT industry,” said Sheikh Saif Hilal Al Hosni, Country Manager for Microsoft Oman and Bahrain.

Reimagining industries in the new normal, Microsoft remains committed to its core pillars of global educational and skilling future workforce initiatives, as these courses will equip young technology-driven professionals with the appropriate tools and skills to secure and grow the country’s ICT environment. This will enable the nation to build a resilient infrastructure, enhancing and catering to new demands of their digital economy.

The MaharaTec program will continue to operate for a period of one year, while participants are free to choose the courses and dates that are suitable to their learning requirements. Further incentivising the skilling experience, OITS will cover exam free for the first 200 participants who successfully pass the certification test.
