Oman marks World Teachers’ Day

Oman marks World Teachers’ Day

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Education joins the world in marking the World Teachers’ Day, which falls on October 5 of each year.

The International Teacher’s Day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 International Labour Organization (ILO) and UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets standards relating to their rights and responsibilities, ongoing training, employment, teaching and learning.

This year’s World Teachers’ Day, themed “The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers”, highlights the procedures committed by member states at the Transforming Education Summit held in September 2022 in New York.

The World Teachers’ Day also underscores the importance of professional development for teachers, supporting innovation in the field, enhancing the position of teachers and their pivotal role in forming a more flexible educational system.

The Ministry of Education, through the programmes of the Specialized Institute for Vocational Training for Teachers, seeks to train and qualify teachers with the latest technologies and assessment standards and to qualify them to make a positive change in the educational field.
