Oman Participates in Arab Interior Ministers Council Meeting in Tunis

The Sultanate of Oman today took part in the deliberations of the 40th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, held under the auspices of President Kais Saied of the Tunisian Republic.

Present at the meeting were Arab interior ministers and representatives of the Arab League and the GCC states.

The Omani delegation was chaired at the meeting by Sayyid Hamoud Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, who affirmed in a speech that the meetings of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers are distinguished by their constructive cooperation and continuous coordination among all security agencies in the Arab countries in order to address everything that might threaten their security and stability.

This, the minister said, prompts more efforts to provide all capabilities and facilities that enhance the capabilities of the Arab security services.

In his speech, he commended the action and achievements of the Secretariat General in the past period. He hoped that the deliberations of this session would achieve success and the desired goals under the leadership of the Palestinian Minister of Interior.

The meeting discussed a number of topics, including a report of the Secretary-General of the Council on the action of the Secretariat General between the thirty-ninth and forty-ninth sessions of the Council and a report of the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences on the work of the university between the thirty-ninth and forty-ninth sessions of the Council, as well as the recommendations issued by conferences and meetings that took place within the framework of the Secretariat General during 2022, and the outcomes of joint meetings with Arab and international bodies during the same year.

The meeting also discussed a vision for activating the work of the Council in the areas of cybersecurity and combating electronic crimes, respecting human rights in security work, and amending the Council’s regulations in line with developments in its field of work.

It also discussed the approval of the executive plan for the Arab strategy to combat terrorism, which was developed in line with the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

The delegation accompanying the Minister of Interior comprised Major General Abdullah Ali Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations, Dr. Hilal Abdullah Al Sinani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Tunisian Republic, and officials at the Ministry of Interior and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
