Oman Participates in FAO-China SSC Programme Meeting

Muscat, 2The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, today took part in the high ranking meeting on Phase 3 of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation (SSC) Programme.

The meeting aims to bolster cooperation between the south countries, as well as enhancing trilateral cooperation in the world’s agricultural development.

The third phase of the programme targets reaching a sustainable transformation on the level of agriculture and food. It also contributes to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented during the meeting by Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Agriculture Undersecretary.

Al Bakri underscored the importance of concerted efforts in producing adequate food to meet the demands of the world population.

He added that the Sultanate of Oman has always supported the SSC and contributed to funding joint projects among the countries of the region and Africa.
