Oman Post, Tanzania post issue joint stamp

DAR ES SALAAM: Oman Post, a subsidiary of Asyad Group, on Monday announced the issuance of a post stamp jointly with Tanzania Posts Corporation.

The stamp, the first of its kind, represents the depth of historical and fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Tanzania. It is an indicator of promising cooperation in postal fields and logistic solutions.

The event saw the participation of representatives of the two countries’ governments.

The stamp highlights cultural and social aspects of friendship.

An oil painting by Omani artist Sami al Siyabi constitutes an overall graphic design for the joint stamp.

The stamp features architectural and cultural landmarks in the Republic of Tanzania where Omanis left their mark, as well as a drawing of Zanzibar coastline “Corniche of Zanzibar” and adjoining government buildings.

The stamp also portrays the House of Wonders, a key historical and cultural landmark in Zanzibar depicting the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two countries.

The stamp comprises other buildings that document Oman’s contribution to Zanzibar’s heritage and economic development which saw the transformation of small settlements into major cities that played a great role in the rise of East African centres, notably Zanzibar, that later became lighthouses for Islamic and Swahili cultures. — ONA
