OMAN TAKES PART IN ARAB ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL IN CAIRO

A meeting of Arab Economic and Social Council, at the level of senior officials, was held today, at the Arab League headquarters, to prepare for the 101st session of the Council, at the ministerial level, scheduled to be held later today (Thursday) under the chairmanship of Sudan.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented at the meeting by Imad bin Talib al-Ajmi, Director of Arab and International Organisations, at the Supreme Council of Planning.

The meeting discussed several items, including preparing for the upcoming Arab summit, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, preparing for the Arab Economic and Social Summit, scheduled to be held in Lebanon in 2019, in addition to, following up the implementation of the previous Arab-African Summit resolutions, preparing for the next summit and for the Arab Summit in 2018.

The meeting also discussed the follow-up of cooperation with the United Nations system and the Arab-International cooperation, in the social fields, developments in the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, developments on the Arab Customs Union, investment in Arab countries and the Arab Charter for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises Sector.
