Muscat, The Sultanate welcomed the announcement of ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza Strip, said a statement by the Foreign Ministry today.

Oman values the efforts made by brotherly and friendly countries for de-escalation to halt bloodshed between the two sides and to allow the arrival of humanitarian and relief aid to Gaza Strip, said the Ministry in its statement.

The statement also affirmed that the Sultanate underscores the need for sustained regional and international efforts to establish comprehensive and lasting peace, achieve fair settlement for the Palestinian issue and realize the legitimate demands of the brotherly Palestinian people for freedom, dignity and setting up of their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
