Omani, British Working Group Holds 14th Round

Muscat, The 14th round of the Omani-British Joint Working Group was held at the Foreign Ministry today under the chair of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry from the Omani side and Alistair Burt, Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from the British side.

The meeting covered the existing friendship relations and constructive cooperation between the Sultanate and United Kingdom (UK) in different political, economic and cultural fields. They also stressed the keenness of both states to develop and enhance business, tourism and investment partnerships.

The two sides shared views on a range of regional and international issues of common interest and their keenness to continue working hard to reach political consensus for these issues through peaceful dialogue to achieve peace and security and create an atmosphere of understanding and harmony.

The visit coincides with the joint Omani- British military exercise (Swift Sword 3), which continues up to the end of October 2018.

The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sheikh Yahya bin Abdullah Al Fannah al-Araimi, Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the Foreign Ministry, Khalid bin Hashil al-Meselhi, Head of the Secretary General Office Department and Sheikh Badr bin Mohammed al-Hinai, Head of West Europe Department whilst it was attended from the British side by Hamish Cowell, UK Ambassador appointed to the Sultanate and officials from both sides.
