Omani-Saudi Technological Forum Kicks Off

Riyadh, The Omani-Saudi technological forum Kicked off in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) today.

The forum aims to boost communication between Omani and Saudi tech companies. It also aims to increase the commercial expansion of tech companies and to enhance fields of investment in innovation and technology in both countries.

The Omani delegation is headed by Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The agenda of the forum included presentations on strategies and programs related to digital economy in the two countries and supporting tech companies. In addition, it included seminars and workshops to exchange expertise and knowledge. Those events saw the participation of nascent Omani and Saudi tech companies in the fields of digital transformation, Internet of Things (IoT), technological industries, artificial intelligence (AI) and drones.

Moreover, through the National Digital Economy Programme (DEP), the Sultanate of Oman aims to actively contribute in establishing and developing a flourishing digital economy responding to the requirements of the future. It also targets promoting the In-Country Value (ICV) of the digital economy, as well as creating sustainable income-generating opportunities that keep pace with technological developments.

The DEP also aims to establish a strategic partnership with private sector establishments and to attract foreign technology investments in Oman.
