The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and U.S Embassy in Muscat today organized the Omani / U.S. Joint Forum under the auspices of Najeeb bin Ali al- Rowas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs.
The Forum reviewed the cooperation framework in the action plan 2014-2017 within the MoU signed between the two governments in the field of environment and biodiversity. The participants reviewed the programs that have been implemented in the field of nature preservation and climate affairs including the capacity building program, enhancing the development of natural reserves and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The organization of the Forum comes in implementation of the MoU signed between the Sultanate government and U.S. government as one of the MoU signed between the two countries under the umbrella of the FTA. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs seeks to train cadres and get international experiences in environment fields to promote environmental work and enhance awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting environment to ensure better future for the next generations.
It should be noted that the Forum will organize a press conference in which both sides will unveil the details of the second plan for cooperation at the end of the sessions between the Omani and American sides.
