Omanisation: Over 85% citizens employed in civil service sector
Muscat: His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Baawin, the Minister of Labour, revealed that the total number of employees in the civil service sector in the Sultanate of Oman reached 168,985, with an Omanisation rate of 88.6 percent.
He added that the number of manpower in the commercial business category in the private sector amounted to 1,722,697, and non-Omani manpower in the private business category amounted to 340,619.
This came during the Shura Council’s hosting of the Minister of Labour in its 7th regular session of the 9th period to discuss the Ministry’s statement in four axes, namely: the Ministry’s policy, plans and programmes during the first executive plan of Oman’s vision 2040; legislation and laws regulating work in the public and private sectors; employment in the public and private sectors; and training and qualification.
