Oman’s authority recovers over OMR One million for consumers in 2022

Muscat: More than OMR one million was recovered for consumers as refunds from complaints in Muscat during 2022, the Consumer Protection Authority said.

The annual statistical indicators report for the 2022 of the General Court of the Consumer Protection Authority in Muscat indicated that the total amounts recovered amounted to (1,553,265)OMR, as part of the efforts made by the authority to work towards receiving consumer complaints, preserving their rights and finding appropriate solutions to them.

“In addition to its constant keenness through cadres to achieve maximum consumer protection and follow a sound and studied approach in accordance with the mechanisms, methods and rules stipulated in the Consumer Protection Law and its implementing regulations,” the report added.

The public services sector topped the recovered amounts with an amount of OMR 677024, while the total amount of goods recovered amounted to 3313 items, which varied between the recall of new vehicles, a number of electrical and electronic devices, spare parts for vehicles, and some other commodities for consumers.

The report indicated that the authority received during the same period 15051 complaints in various sectors such as the vehicle sector, equipment, machinery, repair shops, the electrical and electronic devices sector, as well as the other public services sector.

The report clarified that the number of complaints which have been solved reached 13921 which equal to more than 92.5% of the total complaints received and satisfactory solutions were reached in accordance with the procedures followed based on the law and its implementing regulations.
