OMSB Executive Board Meets

Muscat, The Executive Council of Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) today held its third meeting for 2021 via video-conferencing, with participation of Dr. Hilal al-Sabti, OMSB Executive President.

The Board approved minutes of the previous meeting and followed up the previous decisions and action plans. It also discussed the methods of academic training and results of the survey on resident doctors and faculty members.

The meeting also discussed the work plan, the modification of the training period for the General Dentistry program, the half-yearly accreditation report for the anesthesiology program, and the internal accreditation report of A’Rustaq Hospital.

The executive board of OMSB comprises an Executive President as Chairman, the dean of College of Medicine and Health Science in Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Director-General of Health Affairs in the Ministry of Health (MoH), Director-General of Human Resources Development in the MoH, Representative of Health Services in the Royal Oman Police (ROP), Representative of Health Services in the Ministry of Defence, a Representative of Private Medical Colleges, Heads of specialized departments and committees in OMSB, and two experts assigned by the Minister of Health every three years.

The meeting of the executive board is held periodically to follow up the training programs’ plans and their implementation, approve the standards to accredit training hospitals, manage the training and examination affairs, and propose acceptance criteria for residency and fellowship training programs.
