Palestinian Pres. commends Egypt’s efforts in halting Israeli aggression against Gaza

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas commended Egypt for the efforts, which led to a ceasefire agreement halting the Israeli aggression on the Gaza strip.

Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that President Abbas praised in a statement his people’s patience and strength during the ordeal.

He also expressed solace towards those who were killed during the aggression and wished for the quick recovery to those injured.

He urged his ministries to provide immediate relief aid to the Gaza strip.

Egypt’s efforts for a ceasefire between Palestinian resistance and Israel came into effect last night after five consecutive days of bombardment, which resulted in the death of 33 Palestinians including women and children, and the injury of more than 150 others. President Abbas arrived in New York on Saturday to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, to be marked on Monday, and is due to give a speech on the occasion for the first time at the UN headquarters.

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution last November to commemorate the Nakba annually on May 15.
