‘PM Fellowship Programme develops fellows’ skills, enhances their ability to serve nation’

The Prime Minister’s Fellowship Programme (Programme) has succeeded in creating leading national competencies who are capable of enhancing the kingdom’s development process, government employees who graduated from the programme’s eight intakes said.

They indicated that the programme had provided them with opportunities to learn about the nature of government work, enhance their skills, determine national priorities and be familiar with the government decision-making process.

In statements to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), they affirmed that the meeting of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with the current fellows and alumni of the Prime Minister’s Fellowship Programme, had proved the importance of investing in the citizens in achieving the goals of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s comprehensive development process, emphasising that the meeting was a source of pride for everyone.

In this regard, Dr. Khalid Fahd Al-Alawi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Development at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, who graduated from the Programme’s fourth intake, expressed delight at meeting HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noting that the meeting motivated the graduates to be more creative and innovative.

He added that the programme’s over 100 graduates, who belong to various government entities, are dedicated to working together within Team Bahrain to submit and develop initiatives according to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

National Bureau for Revenue’s Noor Hafedh Bu Ali, from the first intake, said the Programme had enabled the trainees to be informed closely about the mechanisms and priorities of government work, noting that it has honed her skills and improved her experience, making her more capable of facing challenges and working under pressure.

Yousif Buhejji, CEO of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), from the third intake, asserted that the Programme provided a good opportunity for Bahraini youth to showcase their skills and engage in the national efforts to achieve development.

Fatima Abdulaal, Chief of the Industrial Services Department for Investors at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, who graduated from the sixth intake, highlighted the importance of the Programme in developing the participants’ personalities, including professional, research and planning skills, noting that she was keen to transfer the skills she had acquired from the Programme to her colleagues to benefit them and motivate them to develop professionally.

Health Ministry’s Hana Ghazi Al-Shakar, from the fourth intake, asserted that the Programme had enabled her to have a broader insight into the nature of government work that goes beyond her job.

She indicated that the graduates have a clear vision of the future of government work for the next five or ten years, noting that it is a rich programme that consolidates professional skills and paves the way for permanent development.

Mashael Al Qutami, a legal advisor at the Ministry of Information, who graduated from the 2018-2019 edition, said that the intensive training provided by the Porgramme enables Bahraini youth to acquire the necessary government work skills and be dedicated to achieving the interests of the nation and the citizens.

She urged youth to take advantage of the kingdom’s innumerable promising opportunities, to achieve success and ensure a better future for the homeland.

Industry and Commerce Ministry’s Sabah Al-Jalahma, a seventh intake fellow, asserted that the Programme had paved the way for him to have a broader vision of the government’s plans and priorities.

It also trains the beneficiaries on ways to enhance their knowledge, manage meetings and deal with leading personalities, making everyone closer to the governmental decision-making process.

Sarra Al-Hadi a legal advisor at the REHC, considered the Programme as the best training session she has undergone in her life, noting that it is an important field training that enables the beneficiaries to learn new skills every day.

She added that all the graduates are promising competencies who are committed to serving the nation according to the values and principles of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The PM Fellowship Programme was launched in 2015 to help mentor and prepare exceptional young Bahrainis from various government entities for a career in public service leadership.

Selected individuals spend a year working as full-time research fellows in the Prime Minister’s Office, benefiting from advanced training in writing skills, research methods and policy analysis.

Fellows also benefit from the opportunity to interact with – and learn from – decision-makers at the highest levels of government. Following this, the fellows will return to their ministries where they will remain points of contact for the Prime Minister’s Office.

The fellowship, which is open to all bilingual government employees with requisite degrees, forms a core pillar of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s initiative to improve national skills and support the Kingdom’s growing cadre of young government professionals.
