Port Salalah, FECO Ink Vessel Refuelling Agreement

Port Salalah, FECO Ink Vessel Refuelling Agreement

Salalah, 26 Jul (ONA)—Salalah Port and Fujairah Engineering Company (FECO) have signed an agreement for the supply of vessels with high-quality fuel at Salalah Port, one of the leading refuelling hubs in the region.

FECO began its operations in Salalah with effect from June 2022, after its commercial vessel “Sea Dweller” dropped anchor and moored at the port. Refuelling is made by ship-to-ship transfer, through pipelines or from tanker trucks.

FECO envisages providing various degrees of fuel during vessel calls. This will enhance Salalah Port’s reception capacity and fuel trade, notably as the port is endorsing the regulations of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), a measure that accelerated the rate of orders for LSF (low-sulphur fuel).

Through this agreement, the Port of Salalah seeks to provide value-added fuel supply service, not only for visiting vessels, but also for offshore navigators.

In November 2021, Salalah Port floated many tenders at a global level to keep its 100,000 metric-tonne liquid tank yard in motion. The successive bids peaked into the April 2022 pact.
