The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, declared standing firmly with the Armenian people in their struggle for recognition their just cause, and to remove the blindness covering the blood of the victims of the Armenian genocide in the veil of denial on the one hand and indifference on the other hand.

President Aoun said: “On the one hundred and six-year anniversary of the massacres that the Armenian people were subjected to, who today forms part of the fabric of Lebanon, we affirm the need to achieving justice in this shameful case that burdens the conscience of the world without pushing it to move to take a historic decision that distinguishes between The executioner and the victim.”

He added, “Whatever hit the Armenian people with the sword, hit the Lebanese people with starvation, and the time interval between the two was one year!”

On the occasion, President Aoun made two phone calls to the Armenian Orthodox Catholicos Aram I, and the Armenian Catholic Patriarch Krikor Bedros XX, commemorating the memory of the martyrs of the genocide.
