RNO Participates in Omani Cultural Experience Symposium

Muscat, The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) today participated in the National Symposium on Omani cultural experience and its role in enhancing international relations.

The symposium was organized by the National Commission for Education, Culture and Sciences—based at the Ministry of Education.

The symposium was held via videoconferencing under the auspices of Sayyid Said Sultan Al Busaidi, Cultural Affairs Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The RNO presented a paper on the role of the RNO’s ships “Shabab Oman I and Shabab Oman II” in making Omani culture known in different parts of the world.

The paper was presented by Lieutenant Issa Sulayim Al Jahwari, Commandant of Shabab Oman I & II, who spoke about the history of Shabab Oman, being an active participant in local, regional and international events.

Al Jahwari outlined Shabab Oman’s missions aimed at cementing ties of friendship and spreading concepts of peace among nations of the world.

The symposium highlighted the efforts of the Sultanate and its response to global initiatives to utilize culture as a basic component of international relations. It underscored the importance of international organisations in promoting culture at the local and international levels.
