ROP Calls for Compliance to Covid-19 Supreme Committee Decisions on Ramadan

ROP Calls for Compliance to Covid-19 Supreme Committee Decisions on Ramadan

Muscat, The Royal Oman Police (ROP) called on citizens and residents to stick to the decisions issued by the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, particularly the precautionary measures during the holy month of Ramadan.

ROP added that it will maintain cooperation with the departments concerned to enforce the penalties stated by the decisions issued earlier regarding the violations.

ROP also called to stick to the decisions of the Covid-19 Supreme Committee to protect the health of everyone and to avoid any violation that may lead to the closure of non-compliant mosques. ROP also calls for cooperation to report any violation by calling (1099) around the clock.

The Supreme Committee issued last Tuesday decisions on Ramadan stating that attendance at Taraweeh congregational prays has to be exclusively limited to worshippers who received two-dose vaccination against Covid-19. Unvaccinated people, including children aged below 12 years, are prohibited to enter the mosques.

It also banned mass gatherings for charity breakfast meals (Iftar Sa’im) in mosques and other public places, including tents and public assembly halls.

The Covid-19 Supreme Committee urged all members of the public to continue observing precautionary protective measures, including wearing face masks and maintaining physical distance in closed areas, including mosques.
