Saudi Arabia, South Korea to boost collaboration in food, medical products

Riyadh, The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the field of food and medical products with assurances of quality and safety.

The MoU was signed by Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al Jalajel, Saudi Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SFDA, and Park Jin, Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs.

It aims to exchange information on regulations, standards, international coordination activities, scientific evaluation, laboratory tests for food control, quality and safety management, pre-marketing evaluation, research and regulations related to artificial intelligence and innovative medical devices, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

It also stipulates conducting joint research in areas of common interest, exchanging expertise, consultations and visits, and holding joint seminars, workshops and training courses.

The MoU entails cooperation in food, pharmaceutical products, pharmaceutical biological products, medical devices and cosmetics.
