Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al- Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, today patronized over the opening of Outward Bound Oman’s first national training center in A’Sharqiyah Sands.
Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al- Said, Honorary President of Outward Bound Oman, said that the opening of the training center is an important event in the history of the Outward Bound Oman. He pointed out that the training of Omani youth to build their community and to be creative in the labor market is one of the most important national goals. He added that these centres will enhance the ability of Outward Bound Oman to play a leading role in refining the participants in training courses.
The training center will be the first of three centers to be opened in the next two years. The construction works will commence in the second centre in Muscat at the end of this month. It is characterized by using solar energy and treatment of waste water inside the center’s site. It will also contain equipment stores, two internal training rooms and accommodation for 60 people and four outdoor educational platforms, a prayer room and a large lecture hall.
The inauguration of the training center was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Suayed al- Kalbani, Minister of Social Development and Hamish Cowell, British Ambassador to the Sultanate and a number of key officials and supporters.
Outward Bound Oman is part of a global network that utilizes challenging journeys to enhance the capabilities of its participants. Around 200 international participants take part in the courses of Outward Bound Oman every year in 32 countries. Outward Bound Oman also trains youth from schools, colleges and universities throughout the Sultanate and to provide courses for talents and emerging leaders of companies and institutions in the Sultanate.
