SCW’s study to focus on women’s major role in laying foundation for early education

Manama, The Secretariat-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) held an online meeting with women’s associations in the kingdom.

The two sides reviewed a proposed study on the pioneering role played by Bahraini women in laying the foundations for early education.

Conducted by the SCW, in collaboration with a specialized research team, led by SCW member, Dr. Sabah Al-Junaid, and comprising members of women associations and the relevant woman NGOs, the study documents the emergence and development of nurseries and kindergartens in the Kingdom.

The study, which began in August 2021, seeks to document Bahraini women’s leading role in laying the foundations of early education in Bahrain since the 1960a, which reflects the kingdom’s deep-rooted legacy in encouraging women to take the initiative in establishing nurseries and kindergartens.

The study also sheds light on the pioneering role played by these service institutions in encouraging Bahraini women to join the labour market and contribute to the national economy.
