Security operation kills 11 militants in N. Pakistan

At least 11 militants were killed in an operation by security forces in Pakistan?’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan, said military on Tuesday.

The overnight operation was launched in response to an improvised explosive device (IED) blast that killed seven Pakistan army soldiers, according to a statement issued by Pakistan military?’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Lakki Marwat district of KPK, said ISPR, adding that the Pakistan Army troops effectively targeted the militants’ positions, resulting in the deaths of 11 militants and the destruction of multiple hideouts.

Earlier on Sunday, seven soldiers of Pakistan army lost their lives when a security forces?’ vehicle came under attack in Lakki Marwat district of KPK.

The operations come at a time when Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terror attacks especially in KPK and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan after the banne
d outfit Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended the ceasefire agreement with the government last year.
