SERBIAN PRESIDENT FROM MUNICH: THE CONFLICT IN UKRAINE MAY DEVELOP INTO A THIRD WORLD WAR

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced today that “the situation in and around Ukraine has become a hot topic at the Munich Security Conference,” adding that he “does not expect peace to come soon,” according to “Novosti” news agency.

The Serbian head of state arrived in Munich on Friday, where he held bilateral meetings with the head of European Union diplomacy, Joseph Borrell, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and a number of other politicians.

The Serbian president said at a press conference in Munich, “Ukraine is a hot topic at the Munich conference, and there is only one angle for us, which shows that peace will not be achieved soon. This will bring us new political consequences.”

Vucic reaffirmed Belgrade’s neutral position, adding that it “continues its policy of military neutrality and will try to withstand as much as possible without imposing sanctions on the Russian Federation,” saying: “The armed conflict in Ukraine could develop into a third world war,” noting that “Western countries increase pressure on Serbia because of its refusal to support sanctions against Russia.”
