Shura Council Gets Royal Directives to Start New Annual Sitting

Muscat, In response to the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to open the regular session of Council of Oman, the Shura Council will begin tasks of its third annual sitting (2021-2022) of the 9th Term (2019-2023) on Sunday 7 November.

Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, said that the council will launch its sitting in implementation of Article (38) of the Council of Oman Law promulgated under Royal Decree No. 7/2021.

Al Nadabi added that the session will see the re-election of six members who complete the membership of the council. Also, candidacy will be open for the chairmanship of standing committees and posts of deputy heads of the respective committees.

Al Nadabi explained that the session will also look into the State Budget for the fiscal year 2022, which was transferred to the Shura Council as is the norm. The Economic and Financial committee will study the budget draft in accordance with a fixed timeframe, he added.
