MUSCAT: The Office of Majlis Ash’shura held its 17th regular meeting under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Office discussed the plans of standing committees of Majlis Ash’shura for the fourth annual session of the ninth term and the axes of the ministerial statements proposed by the committees. They include topics of discussion with the Minister of Labour proposed by the Youth and Human Resources Committee, topics of discussion with the Minister of Information proposed by the Media and Culture Committee and topics of discussion with the Minister of Health proposed by the Health and Environment Committee.

The Office reviewed letters of the Council of Ministers regarding the annual ministerial reports of the year 2021 including the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

In addition, the Office reviewed the reply of the Youth and Human Resources Committee to the annual report of the Ministry of Labour for the year 2021 and the report of the Food and Water Security Committee to the annual report of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for the year 2021.

The Office of Majlis Ash’shura also reviewed a number of ministerial reports including from the Minister of Finance regarding the privatisation contracts and the public-private partnership in education.

The Office decided to refer a number of briefing requests presented by the council members to the Minister of Finance concerning the construction of 76 public schools in different governorates and a briefing request to the Minister of Social Development regarding exclusion of compensation of vehicles affected by Cyclone Shaheen.

The Office approved a request for discussion to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources on the reality of food security in the Sultanate of Oman in light of the economic and geopolitical developments currently affecting the world.
